The nine words "Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Zhen, Lie, Qian, Xing" are derived from the Chinese Taoist book "Baopu Zi" of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Tantric Buddhism and Japanese ninjas have evolved them into the corresponding nine hand seals and corresponding mantras.
